BIOGRAPHY

Johnny Long is a versatile singer, musician, songwriter, and producer who began captivating audiences at the tender age of five. Growing up as the son of a championship-winning barbershop quartet singer, Johnny spent his childhood at rehearsals, singing along with the quartets. By the age of ten, he had developed perfect pitch and was proficient in holding down baritone, lead, and tenor spots as an anchor for the quartets. His mother bought him his first four-piece trap set at age five and enrolled him in formal drum lessons. By age eleven, Johnny had started teaching himself guitar.

At fifteen, Johnny was already playing in local bands as a lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and singing drummer. He was equally comfortable singing lead or backup harmonies from behind the kit or stepping out front on the mic and guitar with equal fervor. After high school, Johnny earned his bachelor’s degree at GSU in Jazz Theory, Music Marketing and Management, and Copyright Law. He then went on to study Classical Theory, Guitar, Voice, and Percussion at Mercer Universities in Atlanta and Macon, GA. During this time, he performed in numerous live throughout the Southeast US, performing weekly as a Lead Vocalist, Lead & Rhythm Guitarist, Bassist, and Drummer.

Johnny has been writing songs since his early teens and composed numerous songs for bands, artists, and himself throughout his musical career. He has also worked as a gun-for-hire on other recording artists' projects in and around the Southeast. A jack-of-all-trades and master of many, Johnny is comfortable in various support roles for his bands or artists, including writing, recording, performing, engineering, and producing songs in the studio and Iive performance settings .

From an early age, Johnny immersed himself in numerous genres, never venturing far from his love for hard-hitting rock but also keeping his foot in the door of jazz, blues, hip-hop rap, metal, and even country. He is always inspired to experiment with mixing styles to create unique, powerful songs. Johnny’s songs are inspired by true-life experiences, humor, surreal and paranormal subjects, and emotional themes. He creates complex songs that showcase his mastery of instrumentation, engineering, and recording techniques, which he likes to call his “bag of tricks.”

Listening to Johnny Long’s music is like experiencing a “rabbit out of the hat” approach that leads the listener on a journey akin to Alice’s trip down the rabbit hole to Wonderland. His music introduces thought-provoking masterful lyrics that evoke diverse emotions and images, featuring memorable hooks, rich harmonies, and superb musicianship.
